I have been sending out daily Torah Thought emails since 1997. I created this blog to provide an archive for, and a forum for discussion of, these emails.
All points of view are welcome in this forum, if expressed civilly (as defined by my ear, since this is my blog). However, this is not a place for publicizing personal manifestos; feel free to start your own blog for those.

Open up your hand
Hi,
"For the pauper will not cease from the midst of the land. Therefore, I command you: Open, open your hand to your brother, your needy person, your pauper in your land."
I always loved this passage which I think includes a reference to "What goes around comes around..." and don't be scared (i.e. diminishing your own assets) to give tzedaka, because givers of tzedaka will be duly rewarded. Nobody goes poor by giving tzedaka. If only more people would understand that!
